Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a global public health problem that women around the world face, one which has implications for their health and well being. Although there is much research done on IPV, these studies are conducted from a Western perspective; often women in the studies are white, western women in the U.S. and Europe. The limited research on non-white, non-western women indicate that IPV is not experienced the same across race and culture. This paper bring into question which aspects of IPV generalize across cultures and which do not.
